ABOUT THIS COFFEE:
Aceh, in northern Sumatra, is an incredible region for coffee production. The average farm is one hectare, 80% of producers within northern Sumatra are women, and 95% of producers are smallholders. The region is diverse, geographically speaking. It is surrounded by beaches with a swampy inland, and the Barisan Mountains make up the inner two-thirds of the area. Coffee is grown on this volcanic mountain amongst the rainforest.
Harimau Tiger is a signature coffee from our friends at Café Imports. Signature coffees capture the characteristics of coffee of Sumatra coffee while offering a cleaner, sweeter profile and a higher cup quality than a standard Mandheling. Signature coffees are designed to showcase the best "taste of place" and are sourced from a select subset of producers. We can trace the coffee to a region and a mill, but the number of producers who contributed their best lots to this coffee is significant.
