Sumatra Aceh Harimau Tiger

Impressions: Rich. Molasses. Baker’s chocolate Fragrance of cedar, clove, and chocolate with an aroma of caramel and light molasses when brewed. Sweet, rich, and smoky in the cup with baker’s chocolate, and sweet bell pepper. A lingering tobacco and spice finish. An outstanding Sumatra.

ABOUT THIS COFFEE:

Sumatra is a fascinating origin, unique even among its fellow Indonesian coffee-growing islands and areas. The vast diversity that we have found there is one of the reasons that we are always excited to go back and face cupping after cupping of Sumatran coffee in search of something special. Through this rigorous process, we have discovered producers with excellent picking and processing standards that we continue to source from.

There is a lot of untapped potential in this region. Washed coffees in particular have grabbed our attention and our palates, as has the increase in democratically organized associations of women coffee producers. This Harimau Tiger captures the classic characteristics of a Sumatran coffee while also offering a cleaner, sweeter profile and higher cup quality than a standard Mandheling. Harimau Tiger is sourced based on quality and cup profile with higher premiums being paid up and down the supply chain.
