Here is a summary of the information created for this coffee by our friends at Crop To Cup. There is a link to a lot more information below... “Kinini” means, literally, ‘this big thing right here’. It is the name of the collaboration of cooperatives seeking to pool their efforts to improve their lots. 85% of the members are women. We found this lot from Tumba Village to be something worth sharing. Kinini is also the name of a washing station and cooperative located in Kinini town, which collects from the neighboring villages of Tumba and Mageragere. The fact that they produced an 87 point coffee in their first full harvest is a testament to the two indefatigable dreamers behind the whole thing: Jacquie Turner and Malcolm Clear. They wanted to find a way to have generational impact on Rwandan communities without having to continually fundraise money for the many aid projects they had been dedicated to over the previous 10 years. They invested everything to create an entirely new coffee model that set the farmers up with EVERYTHING, in a way that leads to total independence and sustainability. We source this coffee through our friends at Crop To Cup and we couldn't be more delighted with the outcome.
